The Pau Casals UNESCO Chair is a project in agreement between the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC) and the Pau Casals Foundation

The objetives of the projects are promoting contemporary research, knowledge, dissemination and debate on the musical and humanistic dimension of Pablo Casals and his extraordinary legacy, as well as the values he defended throughout his life.

The Chair Papers collection is a publication of the UNESCO Pau Casals Chair, conceived to disseminate the results of its research projects.

Its purpose is to contribute to the international projection of Pau Casals’ legacy, both in terms of his musical career and his commitment to peace, human rights, and the role of culture in the development of societies.

The research projects “Pau Casals’s Cultural Diplomacy through El Pessebre: Puerto Rico as a Node (Hub) in an International Circuit of Peace and the ‘Politics of Reception’ (1957–1973)” and “The Reception of Pau Casals in Buenos Aires: Event, Networks of Sociability, and Cultural Memory (1937–c.1960)” are the winners of the fourth call for the UNESCO Pau Casals Chair Research Grants 2026.
